Strategy glossary

Plain-English definitions of the rules and terms behind ALK signals.

Heikin-Ashi Color (HA)

A rule built on smoothed Heikin-Ashi candles. Two closed green candles confirm a buy at the next open, two closed red candles confirm a short, and the first opposite-color close exits. It uses closed bars only, so it does not repaint.

Cross39, EMA 3/9 (3/9X)

The 3-period exponential moving average against the 9-period. A buy when the 3 crosses above the 9, a sell when it crosses below. Fast and very active.

Parabolic SAR (SAR)

Dots that trail price. A close through the dots flips the side, and the dots act as the stop. Works in clean trends and whipsaws in ranges.

PPO Cross 12/26/9 (PPO)

The Percentage Price Oscillator is the gap between two moving averages, shown as a percent. A buy when it crosses above its signal line, a sell when it crosses below. Aims to catch momentum turns early.

Cross 9/21, EMA (9/21X)

The 9-period exponential moving average against the 21-period. A buy when the 9 crosses above the 21, a sell when it crosses below. Fewer, longer-held signals than 3/9.

Donchian 20 (DONCH20)

A channel made of the prior 20-bar high and low. A close above the high is a buy, a close below the low is a sell. Suits markets leaving a range.

RSI-2 Mean Reversion (RSI2)

A two-bar RSI that marks stretched short-term moves. A buy when it drops below 10, a sell when it rises above 90. It fades the stretch rather than following the break.

6F Heikin-Ashi (6F)

Tracks the last Heikin-Ashi candle where the color flipped. A close above that candle's high is a buy, a close below its low is a sell. Suits trends. Chops in sideways ranges.

Ichimoku TK Cross (ICHI)

Uses the Ichimoku Tenkan (9) and Kijun (26) lines. A buy when Tenkan crosses above Kijun, a sell when it crosses below. Best in established trends on the daily chart.

Supertrend 10, 3 (ST)

A stop line set from recent volatility (ATR). A close above the line is a buy, a close below is a sell. Built for riding sustained trends.

Previous Session High/Low Break (PDHL)

The prior day's high and low are the only levels that matter. A close above the high is a buy, a close below the low is a sell. Suits breakout and gap days.

Bollinger Squeeze Breakout (SQZ)

Bollinger Bands narrow when volatility dries up. After that squeeze, the first close above the upper band is a buy and the first close below the lower band is a sell.

TTM Squeeze, BB in KC (TTM)

A squeeze is when Bollinger Bands (20, 2) sit inside a Keltner channel (EMA 20, ATR 20 x 1.5). The first close outside the Bollinger Bands after a squeeze sets the side.

Chandelier Exit 22, 3 (CHAND)

A trailing line set 3 ATRs from the 22-bar high or low. A close back above the line is a buy, a close below it is a sell. Gives a wide trailing exit that adjusts to volatility.

Entry

The price where a setup says to get in, usually the next open or the close that confirms the rule.

Stop

The price where the setup is wrong and the trade exits. ALK shows the original stop and any dated stop moves.

Long / Short

Long is a buy that profits if price rises. Short is a sell that profits if price falls.

R (risk unit)

The distance from entry to the original stop. A result of 2R means the trade moved twice that distance in its favor; -1R means it hit the stop.

Backtested results

How a rule would have performed on past price data. They are stored scores, not live trades.

Signal record

The public list of every published signal since Oct 6, 2026, with entry, stop moves, exit and result in R, losses included.

Repaint

When an indicator changes a past signal after more bars arrive. ALK rules use closed bars so signals do not change after the fact.
